Begonia iridescens

Beautiful, subvelvet leaves with shimmery stripes. New growth emerges peach, and blue idioplasts are visible along the primary venation as the leaves mature. Stunner.

A prostrate rhizomatous species from the eastern Himalayas, found growing on steep cliffs. These plants prefer high humidity, with no water pooling on their leaves and to dry between waterings. Not an easy species to keep, but stunning when their cultural needs are met.
